Camus, thanks for the description. Sounds different from the version I know and sounds like you have some kind of demo. Would love to have heard Eddie's contribution. The one I know is from The Mullanes gig I taped in '85 at the Homestead Hotel in Brisbane. The verse lyrics sound different from those you mentioned so maybe it was a different verse. Hi Sarah - welcome! Sounds like you're approaching a place similar to where I found myself last summer awaiting my first opportunity to meet Neil after 15 years. It's great that you're generating some discussion here to move that nervous and expectant energy! I echo what all the others on this thread have said, but I'll add my unique experience of meeting Neil. First of all let me say that in the time since I did meet him I've realized that I had a great deal of expectation riding on that...

Liz Taylor, I agree wholeheartedly with your observations about Neil - I was struck as well the first time I saw Neil with how worn he looked. Much different than the rock star image in my head. He looked tired and annoyed and had much more grey hair than I expected. A real guy - who'da thought?!? Mabelle, I recognized myself in your reflections and thought for a moment you were going to say something scary about my craziness last summer at the SF show! (But then I checked your profile and...

Don't think I would bracket Elvis and Neil together. Elvis hasn't impressed me for nearly 20 years, whilst Neil still provides ample evidence that his song writing has a lot more to offer. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Elvis, but nothing after Imperial Bedroom has had me thinking that he's made another classic album. Get Happy is one of my all time favourite albums, and Trust is pretty impressive too. I also saw Elvis play Liverpool in the mid 80's and this was one of the best nights...

Elvis is OK. Elvis is also prolific. Sometimes too much so. Like the Burt Bacharach sessions. Elvis may have put out as much great material as Neil, but his percentage is far lower, because he just cranks out so much. So, NO. I would offer up Sam Phillips, Kate Bush, Difford & Tilbrook, um...

Hey again Michelle. Reading over all you've shared here, I want to put in a quick reminder to take extra good care of yourself right now. Being an emotional support to anyone can be very draining, especially when the surrounding atmosphere is a stressful one. As a friend of mine once said, transitions are a good time to nail down the furniture and eat lots of green foods. How wonderful to read all of your posts! Thank you for responding. That's funny, Sam and Tina, that you mention the stay-at-home feeling relative to folks from Wales. Perhaps that's why I've always been such a home-body. It took a big deal of negotiating for me to leave my childhood home for good, and since I have I've often noticed a strong pull to stay in the immediate area of whatever new home I've set up. Perhaps I come by that honestly! Sam, thanks for your offer to send me something...

There are lots of performing arts programs for teens, especially acting, where she can meet other kids. Acting classes can also be a means to boost esteem if you think that's an issue.
