Re: Bootlegs, Taboo????
Nice post, Peter . (I just thought you might have problems sleeping tonight if someone else didn't compliment you on your fantastic post ). Did anyone ever consider that the people paying that sort of price for dodgy bootlegs of fanclub CDs must already be pretty massive fans & would have probably already brought Neil Finn 's complete back catalogue? Just a thought. I'm sure that thought had already entered everyone's minds, but still worth mentioning... at least I thought it was ... The...

Re: The Instrumental
Yep, the track on Other Enz is the same Finn/Judd composition, but it's not a genuine Split Enz recording as such. It was released as the B-side of a 1980 single by Graham Brazier (ex Hello Sailor) and credited to "A Ripper Bunch of Blokes." The "blokes" who played on the recording included Mike Chunn, Eddie Rayner, Rob Gillies, and Mal Green. Part of the tune was later used in "I Wouldn't Dream of It" on True Colours .

Re: LOTR (Non-spoilers only)
Oh, one thing I really loved about the movie which Brandi mentioned was the character Gollum. Wow, he was incredible! So realistic looking! I was in total awe! The funny thing is, I remembered this character because of Joanna's dream about Neil Finn last night. Her description of how Neil looked when his wig fell off, balding with only tufts of hair, made me think of Gollum.

Re: POLL: Finn On Finn>> Influence On Woodface's Success
Sorry to put this right after your post ValerieH, but... I hate Weather With You. It is the worst Crowded house song ever. I want to claw off my ears when I hear it. It's taken me years to come to terms with the fact that I hate it, but I've finally made my peace with it. It's the only Crowded House song I've ever had such a violent reaction to, but it makes me feel good to know that Neil is not perfect. And Woodface is my least favourite Crowded House album. I do like most of the other...

Re: Neil Finn in France
I think if more people knew which songs were by Crowded House there would be more fans. We have some french friends and they didn't know who I meant when I said Crowded House. But when I sang a bit of Don't Dream It's Over, 5 out of 5 knew it and 4 out of the 5 knew Weather With You. On holiday in France though, I never ever see any Crowded House CDs But I did hear Fall At Your Feet getting played in a french supermarket, so obviously the songs are liked and popular. People just need to know...

Thanks a lot Sister Madly in da house (great nickname !). All the things you said about Crowded House in France are right. Indeed, it's very hard to buy CH, Neil Finn CDs. (And I don't even talk about split enz !!!) Can you give me the address of the french supermarket where you hear "fall at your feet" ???!!! Seriously, in spite of the weakness of sales, neil finn keeps on influencing many french artists. I've tried to build a small website about CH & neil finn. (You can vote for your...

in this context i find aimee mann's 'it's not' from her 'lost in space' album quite moving and relevant to my life at the moment:- ".....so baby kiss me like a drug, like a respirator And let me fall into the dream of the astronaut Where I get lost in space that goes on forever And you make all the rest just an afterthought And I believe it's you who could make it better though it's not No, it's not No, it's not"

Re: Neil on "Open Mike" tonight???!!
I saw the whole show - it was great. Neil was the first guest and was interviewed for about ten minutes. The interview consisted of Mike Bullard insisting there were crocs and kangaroos in New Zealand and Neil correcting him; and then Neil telling a story about being kept awake by some people having a loud party the night before the opening 'Seven Worlds' concert. Neil then went on to perform Human Kindness (without a drummer - only Steinberg and Sullivan as backup). Neil returned to close...

Egads, I remember Frente! I was having a chat with Rick from Lifehouse about Angie Hart during an interview I did with him last year. I like her style of singing...much like Paul Kelly she keeps her Australian accent in her vocals, but still keeps it all sweet and bubbly. Accidentally Kelly Street and their cover of Bizarre Love Triangle are great tracks but what really blew me away was their debut song Ordinary Angels . Anyway, I digress. I think the best cover of a CH song that i've heard...

Re: Bad concert pairings...
The year was 1995, the concert was R.E.M. The opening act was Crowded House. This was like a dream come true for me but sadly the concert was in Auckland and i was a 17 year old at school with no money living in Wellington, i was crushed. 2 of my all time favourite bands playing the same venue on the same night. But there it was, the greatest pairing in the history of music.

As far as the Enz, the only thing currently domestically (United States) available is a really crappily packaged best of, IIRC... As far as CH, usually the only thing I ever see in stores is the Recurring Dream album, or sometimes the first album, and The Finn Brothers album is cut out now that London/Sire is no longer with us.
