COOL, One of a Kind-Crowded House Signed Children's Ironing Board
One of a Kind Crowded House Signed Ironing Board needs a new home. Hi everyone! I just found this site. I'm a big fan, and saw them on their first tour in Detroit 9-15-87. I met the band and had them sign this small, toddler sized ironing board. It's very cool and has their signatures and doodles of course! I need to downsize, and wondered if any fan, living in USA, would like it. I will make it reasonable. :) Hope it's okay to do this on this site. :) Not sure how this site works, but...

Re: Farewell To The World 1996 or Encore 2016
Didn't see the farewell concert I wasn't well enough so missed it. The 2016 encore was amazing. I went with my daughter and she even said it was the most magical concert she's ever been to. She is only 18. Was great to have been able to share a concert with her. She also loves their music now too

Re: Farewell To The World 1996 or Encore 2016
I cannot answer this one fairly- the first one I wasn't alive to see, the second I attended in person. I will agree that FTTW is the best release from any artist I've ever heard.

Re: Farewell To The World 1996 or Encore 2016
Actually, I agree with the assessment that at that point the Crowdies were rather concerned that they might mess something up while writing themselves into history, so when it comes to concerts that have been a/v-documented, I would go for Fleadh '94 as a better concert than FTTW '96. The Encores I have neither watched on TV nor attended, so I cannot testify to the qualities of these.

Apples and oranges really. CH of old is not the CH of now. I had the pleasure of attending a "secret" Melbourne warm up gig in 1996 and it remains my favourite concert of all time. The sound, the energy, and the vitality of the band of 1996 was a different beast of that in 2016. Both sensational, but different experiences.

Re: Farewell To The World 1996 or Encore 2016
Ok, so i was at both FTTW and Encore. i agree that it’s like comparing apples and pranges. 1996 was like farewelling my teenage years and my all time favourite band. But i was conscious on the night and ever since when watching the show that for all the emotion and amazing moments (snippet of throw yr arms around me, hess’s tears, DDIO hanging final chord before a singalong coda) it was nowhere near their best gig (and ive seen close to 30). Tim’s singing was horribly out of tune, marks...

Re: Farewell To The World 1996 or Encore 2016
What they have in common is that I still listen to / watch them probably about once a week. They are both brilliant. If I could keep only one for the rest of my life I'd go for Encore. It has a great happy, relaxed, content vibe to it. The arrangements are superb, and Neil's voice has a wonderful range. Just as a collection of CH songs it would do, because the Encore versions of those songs are among the best I've heard. And I love Neil's happy grin at the beginning: It's an amazing...

The sheer magnitude of 1996 is hard to top . A truly magical gig in a magical setting . The 2016 one though , the band are tighter for sure , and Neil is a miracle proving that 20 years later his voice is still magnificent , with very little difference ! Just glad we have them both ... TBH I would like more , and it's long overdue ....

Re: An open letter to all Crowdies
I feel that this decision, from the limited info we have, has already divided the fandom like nothing before it. We may well be the greatest and more friendliest bunch of fans on the planet, but we're all human. Elsewhere on the internet (Facebook) there have been major arguments that have transitioned into flat-out name-calling. We're all going to have our own opinions and disagree with others, but that's really where it should end in my opinion. Ideally we shouldn't be taking offence at...

Good points! One thing I've learnt from fan communities is that if the artist isn't reading and not commenting, then 100 percent people around them are.

Unfortunatley , being told what to think , or what not to think , or that it’s ridiculous to put so much importance on Mark - are all things very likely to cause offence - along with the blatant name calling . ive found the “ finn bros appreciation “ page on Facebook to be the worst . The rest of the sites including this one seem fine really

Re: An open letter to all Crowdies
Having seen several fan communities become boiling cesspools of hate when a band does something that some fans disagree with, I can understand the concern of the OP here. Some people seem to take decisions made by bands very personally, and while I can understand that some people may be disappointed by various things happening, some 'fans' seem to become obsessed with bringing the band down. And, to an extent, that can ruin things for actual fans of the band who might want to continue...

Re: An open letter to all Crowdies
Oh yes there are different opinions out there but I dont think it is as out of control as the LB/FM saga ..the angst that went and still goes on! (will they ever let go?) I dont think the same can be said about Frenz and our own band lineup change. I think the divide is more about the why ( which has not been stated) and who is worthy to replace Mark. No one in my fandom eyes but that is just me

I've seen worse than the FM saga, much worse. But, I don't want to say which band as I've moved on from that argument and don't want to start it again.

An open letter to all Crowdies
Hello everyone. I've always felt that the Crowded House/Frenz community has been a like minded and mostly agreeing place. Sure, we have different opinions but there's always underlying respect. However, after the recent business with Mark Hart, I'm worried what will become of this fandom. Neil's decision has been extremely divisive and have no doubt that no matter what some people will be unhappy with the result. I, myself have my reservations. Still it will be interesting to see what...

Farewell To The World 1996 or Encore 2016
Just wondering among fellow finn fans which is your favorite concert or what you love about each. Farewell is the best concert by any band in my opinion and also Pauls last which makes it that more emotional. Encore the band are so tight and you can tell from the music how much fun the guys are having.

Re: Finn Fan - New Music : Bevan Mical
“Cuts Through The Years” is the new single from Bevan Mical. It was inspired by the line “Walking round the room singing stormy weather” from the classic Crowded House song “Weather With You”. Bevan says “Everybody has something that blocks their goals & this song is about getting your own thoughts in order so that nothing can get in the way of whatever you want to achieve”. It will be releasing with an alternate version “Cuts Through The Years (The Bakery Recipe)” which was crafted out...
