Oh, sorry, I couldn't help but laugh at that In a perfect world maybe. The BBC are even worse, the gaps in their archives are enormous. When you think of classic programmes like The Goon Show (radio), Doctor Who, Till Death Us Do Part, The Avengers, Not Only But Also, The Goodies, Dad's Army, Top Of The Pops etc.. are all very incomplete in their archives (most are missing for good) is it any surprise to learn that our own ABC isn't any better? Nah "Who can it be " you seem to not understand the actual point around budgets. It's a bit of a naive statement.... SFK and every single other band you mentioned are NEW bands. They have everything on digital, there are very little costs. The cost of getting the Spellbound doco alone would be close to the cost of the whole George DVD. The reason I know this, the George DVD was done at the same time as ours by the same company....plus their manager is our old tour manager...anyway all they...

Just got my DVD last Friday and I have to echo SD's comments - considering the budget they had to work with this is a top class effort. The Enz were a band with distinct phases which would have been difficult to capture given the fact that footage was hard to find and/or too expensive to use. But somehow the DVD pulls it all off - a good representation of all the band was about. I have a question about the Late Last Night clip - was the sepia used to "hide" tape damage? Because it seems sort...

Camus, thanks for the description. Sounds different from the version I know and sounds like you have some kind of demo. Would love to have heard Eddie's contribution. As someone whose lived in england for er... *counts* 14 of her 21 years, I'd say the power cut last night was due to the fact that the infrastructure of this country is a pile of crap. I have one like SacredNavel's. This is from my uni days. One of my good pals, Erica, was telling us a story about what happened when she decided to go downstairs to get something from the vending machines in the dorm. (her boyfriend was Matt) She started her story with, "Matt was hungry, and I had to go to the bathroom anyway..." and we all stopped her there and were howling. I do have a better story, but it ends up being a bit off-colour, so I'm not sure it's right for the forum. Oh well!

Re: Neils vocal range

HairyCanary ·
Gosh, I so wanted to keep out of this, but I just have to respectfully clear up a little misconception here. People do not have vocal ranges of 4 to 5 octaves individually. That range would cover the entire human vocal range - from the bottom notes of a bass baritone's range to the top notes of a soprano's range. About 2 octaves is average in good singers, believe it or not. That can be built on sometimes, and a few notes can be added on if your voice has the scope. It is rare and pretty...

OK it must be a very common misperception, because I was able to easily come up with a ton of cites on the web where it is touted that these women, among others such as Yma Sumac (Amy Camus), have 4-5 octave ranges... where 6-7 would be extraordinary. Not that I would know.

Yowza! & there i was thinking that Robert Hughes (New York based art critic & author) had declared that "art" was dead! Could this be the birth of a new "ism"? Cromby-ism? One could say that Cromby-ism ENZ-capulates the SPLIT between life & art, combining it into a wholistic oneness, that transcends the now-ness of time, & the social & cultural mileau of the ephemeral. But then i could be wrong. (pauses to do an interprative dance on the dilemas inherent in modern art).

Yeah, Jamie is dead right. There's a 95% chance that NF's Gold Top is a 1969,1970,or 1971 GIBSON Deluxe. The pickups are smaller mini humbuckers, that are set in a metal case, then into a plastic base, and that have another plastic "ring" surrounding them. This was applied to hide factory mistakes/blemishes. The main factor in this particular guitars looks is that it was subject to very extensive use from around 1981 - 2000. Sweat is the major enemy of guitar lacquer...it erodes it over time.

Actually, the pink version is not the original release; instead the Australasian one with the picture of Tim on the sleeve is. The pink version is the North American enhanced version, which comes with bonus video clips from the SIIS album. Definitely the colour I recommend to people who want to obtain this album though, unless they wish to be a completist and have both.

I prefer the black one...and looks like I'm a completist then... Canuckian, again this is an impossible question to get a definitive answer for, but I'd say the self- titled album would be the one to go for. It has some great songs and really showcases Tim. Before and After almost does the same, but in my opinion it isn't as consistent as Tim Finn. Escapade and Big Canoe are both very 80s...if that's your thing then try both. Escapade is probably more instantly accessible than Big Canoe...
