So I looked up page 330 of something so strong. I think Jaffaman is saying that "Loose Tongue" was the "dark heavy song" they tried to record for "Recurring Dream".. Which means it would have Hester and Seymour on it I guess.

On a related note, which has your favourite cover art? I can't go past Time on Earth. Every time I look at it, I think of 1. Paul Hester and 2. What a talented artist Nick Seymour is. I daresay it captured the emotions of the band at the time- a sombre sense of loss and a feeling that creativity would be the best way to heal.

Monsieur Nick ·
I saw this and have thought about it for ages and have not been able to rank the records. Part of my thinking behind this is as follows: The records span such a long time frame where production and sounds have changed. For instance, Crowded House, Temple of Low men, Woodface and Afterglow are probably some of the best song based records but the atmosphere of the recording is sterile and cold. Whilst they are fantastic songs, I much prefer to hear these live. One Nil/One All and Intriguer are...

Thank you for the link, Semi-Detached. I saw some T-shirt designs by Noel Crombie and Nick Seymour there. Plus, I visited the most recent 16 minutes site, and Peter Green says that the infamous snot T-shirt is his fave. (I gather it's been around a while, since the 80s when Split Enz were together?) Well, it is subversive; and the designer, Rob Gillies, really pushed the envelope of attention-getting design. But ewww... the Kleenex Company should pay Gillies royalties when that shirt goes on...

I realise I've taken my time to reply, but that work of art is AWESOME ! If there was ever going to be a 2CD "Best Of" released, and Nick Seymour was somehow unavailable, that creation of your girlfriend's would be perfect. I don't suppose there was a back cover or inside front or back cover done? Also, what was the tracklist you selected? (So I can print the cover off & burn myself a couple of CDs!)

This is incredible! Jut a few quotes: "Signing up for Crowded House became one of the biggest mistakes he ever made" "To say that Hester despised his time in Crowded House is a gross understatement - he wanted out from day one" "with Nick Seymour, they both teamed up whenever the over-bearing ways of Neil Finn got too much" "He could not stand Neil Finn and despised working with him" I didn't think he formed Tarmac Adam either... maybe I'm wrong though? Re: LETTERS TO MY FRENZ. A Split Enz Book.

Jaffaman ·
I don't even have one of those items. Nine years ago I found a copy of the Merry Christmas record in a Melbourne second-hand record shop, but I had a "rational" moment and decided I didn't need to part with my $20. The "Letters To My Frenz" book looks great. I still haven't sat down and properly absorbed it. Just flick through it occasionally. The front and back covers are very striking. I caught up with Nick Seymour recently and showed him the book. He too was impressed.

I'm most excited about the personnel changes. This will be the first album Neil's done in, oh, 20 years without Mitchell Froom and/or Tchad Blake heavily involved, or at least lurking in the sidelines. (Not counting the failed Visconti sessions.) Obviously he's done wonderful things with them...but I can't wait to hear what a totally foreign producer will bring out of Neil. The chemistry of Neil and Nick Seymour is sure to bring good things, of course. My only misgiving thus far is the...

Here's the full article: CROWDED House, one of Australia's biggest musical exports, is re-forming for a world tour. Former frontman Neil Finn and bassist Nick Seymour have held auditions in Auckland and Los Angeles and will continue their search for a replacement for founding drummer Paul Hester in Melbourne this week. Hester committed suicide two years ago. Finn has regularly dismissed notions of re-forming Crowded House. But Hester's tragic death shook that resolve. Sources say Finn will...

After reading various responses on the forum, i've engaged in some deeper thought. I think i've finally worked out what is really really bugging me- the audition. To me, it begins to sound a little like an INXS type situation, it all sounds very arbitrary. I'm slowly coming to terms with the notion of a new drummer, but I think it should be someone of Neil, Nick and Mark's vintage. I certainly hope they won't recruit a 25 year old drummer, that would really annoy me. To re-iterate, I think...

To me this is similar to when David Gedge decided to release the new Cinerama record under the name "The Wedding Present". Especially seeing as the band was now comprising mostly of Cinerama members and only one other member who'd even been in TWP the last time round (and they changed a lot), it smacked as a bit weird. When I got the album however and listened to it, I knew straight away it was a Wedding Present album. It just felt like one, I couldn't explain it, It just felt like one.

To be honest I will go to see the gigs for the upcoming album, whether they are Neil Finn + band or Crowded House. My only surprise if they do reform is that it will be Crowded House touring behind a Neil Finn solo album. I realise that Nick Seymour played on some or all of the tracks, but without Mark Hart involved too it's not really Crowded House. It would have made more sense to reform with the three remaining members and a new drummer, record a new album and then tour behind it. A lot...

As far as we know anyway. Maybe Mark WAS involved but it was kept under wraps to not add fuel to already present speculation by the media that CH was reforming. We'll just have to wait and see whether or not Mark was involved. Oh, and Peter Green has been telling us via the Frenz mailing list to watch for the new CH section of Frenz since the announcement of the reformation. First I was a bit disappointed: Neil, Nick and Mark playing together again, great! but why the name Crowded House without Paul? *Geeky Graphic Designer hat completely on* To be honest I'm not sure that is Nick Seymour typography. I could be way off, but it looks to me to be someone TRYING to emulate Nick Seymour's sense of "of the wall", refined chaos in his compositions. Nick's designs are usually very well thoughtout logotypes within themselves (especially Recurring Dream). This one is just hard to read -- the lineweight is pretty poor and its way unbalanced. So perhaps it's just been cut and pasted out of context...
