With all the Fleetwood Mac distraction, it’s easy to forget that there is still a Neil and Liam album to look forward to in August. I thought I would start a topic where we can add details as they come to light. What do we know so far? The name has been confirmed as Light Sleeper, it is a 10 tracker and due for release in late August. There will be 10 songs from: Any Other Way, Where's My Room, Meet Me in the Air, Anger Plays a Part, Hold Her Close, Listen, Back to Life, Paxos, Troubles,...
Thanks for the summary Whysus. Would anyone be able to list the songs by songwriter? I'm not familiar enough yet with this new batch of songs to know who the main songwriter or lead vocalist is. And are there any true duets? Any information relating to that would be great.
This is completely a guess based on who took the lead on vocals and songwriting style. I am pretty much certain the following are Liam songs : Anger Plays A Part Hold Her Close Ghosts I think that Hiding Place is largely a Liam song, but I'm not as sure as I am with the others. I am pretty much certain that the following are Neil songs: Listen Back to Life I am guessing the following are co-writes Where's My Room (almost seems like a Liam song and Neil song connected together - In the same...
And some more action: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=db0ESGycoNs Release date: 24 August 2018. Clip shows Neil, Liam, Elroy and Sharon Finn, Connan Mockasin and Mick Fleetwood as participating musicians.
Yup - it looks like it is gone! ... weird. It was a minute long promo clip for Light Sleeper, showing Neil, Liam and the band in the studio as well as some photo shots of each of the band members (Elroy, Sharon, Connan, and Mick). Then it finished with a picture of the album cover (the eyelash on a pale background - the font looked similar to what was on the Where’s My Room vinyl single) and the release date. I wonder why it has been taken down?
Thanks for that! Does anybody know the extent of Mick Fleetwood's involvement? I've heard some clips on Sirius on the FM channel about how he played on a few tracks on the album (and that leading to Neil being invited to join FM), but that promo makes it look like he's a pretty integral part of the project. Curious, since both Liam and Elroy are pretty talented drummers.
Yeah interesting that Mick Fleetwood was featured so prominently in the promo clip. Then again maybe we're just reading too much into it and the footage they put up just happened to be filmed during the time he was making a guest appearance. Either way I'm sure we'll hear more soon.
Bands sometimes choose to record layer by layer; first drums, then bass, then keyboards/guitars and so on... Once drums are set up, properly mic’ed it could take no more than two days for a drummer to record drums parts for a whole album. It seems likely Mick Fleetwood was in the studio for a periode like that and been able to lay down parts for perhaps 5 - 8 tracks. I wouldn’t rule out Elroy and Liam feature on drums on other tracks.
I know Mick Fleetwood stayed with Neil during March/April 2016 and he was drumming on new studio album tracks for Neil/Liam during that period. This was also around the time that Neil sent the Bubble Football tweet saying the band and producer had arrived. So my guess is that the video footage goes back to that period in early 2016. .... The album has been quite a long time coming! Hopefully we will continue to learn more about the making of the album in the lead up to its release...
So Paxos doesn't make the cut (that surprises me as it was played quite a bit on the NZ summer tour)... And Troubles only makes the vinyl. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/musi...leeper-vinyl/646082/ has all the album details... And here is the first article on the album: https://www.stuff.co.nz/entert...-called-lightsleeper It looks like Mick Fleetwood only plays on 3 of the songs...
"Mick Fleetwood turns up to play on 'Anger Plays A Part' , ' Any Other Way ' and ' We Know What It Means' ." according to: http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories...t-album-together.htm Also includes a link to download two versions of "Back To Life".
Ah jeez, why the hell does this keep happening? I can't imagine their record label, Inertia Music, having the balls to force this idea on Neil & Liam. Just seems like poor fan service is all. I'd understand this kind of ploy from the likes of Sony BMG, Warner or Universal.
Right you are Guy! I just read this in the Scoop article: "As it's a family affair, it's entirely fitting that the story of Lightsleeper begins at a wedding and here the album opens with a gift from father to son on his wedding day, " Together, Together" , the chorus of 'Island of Peace' begins." That is definitely the song I had come to know as Paxos. That does mean that all the songs are going to be available on vinyl.
