I agree that the Philly show at the Mann was magical. I think the venue has been renovated somewhat because I don't remember it being that nice when I saw concerts there in high school! I was very worried about Neil's voice because I was at the XPN Free at Noon show and was (selfishly, I know) disappointed about the early cut-off time (Neil on a bad day still sounded pretty good to me!) since I was right up front and assumed that they might give the audience some additional songs that might not make the broadcast. I also agree that the Philly show had a much more pleasant, light-hearted vibe than the second NYC show. I think the increased security on the second night and the audience being "strongly encouraged" to sit down was a little off-putting. But I did get to chat with Matt Sherrod for a few minutes and he was an absolute sweetheart!
After seeing six and a half shows (Philly being the last), I am definitely going through some CH withdrawal. They are the only band I would happily follow (if I had the financial means I would be at every show on this tour). I am sure my fellow followers of the northeast leg of this tour are feeling the same sadness!
