I'd agree, on all counts

I've always read it the same way, and have also been a little obsessed about it. I also think it has to do with growing, not just growing up, but outward as well. Maybe even fair to say, expanding your horizons? I always get an ethereal sense of change, growth and exploration from the song that's a bit puzzling and hard to put into words, but nonetheless consistent every time.
