Reply to "Crowded House at the Glass House..."

Wow, it's been thirteen years since I last saw them, so where to start ...

The new songs bode well. "English Trees", "Transit Lounge" and "Silent House" were the immediate favs. "Locked Out" was especially powerful with Matt's drumming. I don't care how many people were auditioned, they definitely picked the right guy. I didn't notice any mistakes by Matt other than playing 'too loud', which happens easily in such a small venue. Neil, Nick and Mark all made boo-boos, but hey, that's what warm-up shows are for. It takes awhile to tone up those musical muscles and start to percolate as a tight team.

For me the only clunker on the night was "Black and White Boy", a song I like, but which sounded as if was being played in a different key and time signature by everyone. Hard to explain but it just weren't right.

The best part of all was seeing the renewed enthusiasm of all the players. Seeing Neil and Nick interacting again was a joy.

Hopefully someone has decent audio from the show. I broke in my new camera and captured decent video for three songs, but I didn't realize that the audio sensitivity could be adjusted and during loud passages it sounds like a tank is running over the microphone. Doh !!

Bravo boys !! Can't wait for a return engagement in August or ??
