I feel so lucky to have been there last night...it was a brilliant show! almost 16 years between Crowdies concerts for me. Neil thanked the audience for "hanging in there between tours"...well, it was worth the wait! my favorite of the new songs played was Nobody Wants To...why is that not being released as the first single? and of the old stuff, my favorite was Black and White Boy. what am I saying, it all was my favorite! I was really pleased that my little sister (she turns 20 on Monday) thought it was a fantastic show - she keeps remarking today how fun it was (she also thought Nick was quite handsome). the guys all looked and sounded fantastic. it was clear that they were having a lot of fun. the mutual love and respect between audience and artists was pretty clear, too. I thought Liam's opening set was fantastic. I know he's a seasoned performer, but for someone so young (what is he, 21 or 22?) to be up there all by himself, doing his thing in front of several hundred people who all have come to see his dad, I think that's quite brave. I bought a copy of his CD and I hope he sells heaps! all in all, it was an incredible night. I love Crowded House! Neil, Nick, Mark, Matt, Liam and crew - thanks a million!
Emma (my sis) and I had a bit of an adventure on the way back to campus. we made a wrong turn and ended up in a dark and deserted industrial park area of Pomona, where we saw a golden retriever crossing the road. we pulled over and checked to see if he had any tags...he didn't, and we weren't about to leave him there as it was midnight, so we hauled him into the rental car and took him back with us and snuck him into Emma's dorm room for the night. we didn't know his name, so Emma suggested that we call him Neil; he seemed to like his temporary name!. this morning we took him to the shelter and learned that he has a microchip, so hopefully his owners will hook up with him soon (I left him there tearfully, though, and I am going to call and check every day until his people find him). so, yes I've gone off topic but if it wasn't for Crowded House playing a concert in Pomona last night, who knows what would've happened to that dog?
I'm sorry I didn't get to meet up with any Frenz last night, it always sounds like it will be so easy to find people you don't even know until you get there and are in a sea of hundreds.
