I sure remember "Same Language As Me" being the origins of "Private Universe" on the Woodface tour, so there's plenty of transition between the two albums. Glad that song is represented in the bonus tracks. Plus the preview of the "Private Universe" home demo on UK iTunes shows how different that song could have ended up. Wow.
The Atlantic ocean has separated me from my copy of the Chris Bourke book for many years, but retrieving it is at the next opportunity is on my to-do list now.
At the risk of trawling for more information which the liner notes may cover - can you provide any insight into the kinds of media the various bonus tracks were sourced from? 24 track tape was mentioned but I'm guessing there will be anything from soundboard DAT tapes for some live recordings to perhaps even 4 track cassette recordings for the earliest demos? Did all of the work that was done on the archival material take place at Roundhead in Auckland? and out of curiosity - where are such valuable/historical resources typically stored for all these years?
