Reply to "2016 Album Reissues: What's Missing?"

This probably needs to be in a different thread, but we used stereo cassette, 4-track cassette, 1/4" stereo, 1/2" stereo, 1/4" 8-track, 2 inch 24-track, DAT, CD-R, Hi8 digital 8-track, Dolby SR, Dolby B, Dolby C, Non-Dolby, DBX, hi-speed, lo-speed, no-speed, digital files, you name it!

The 24-track transfers were done at Roundhead, mostly by Neil Baldock, in 2006. I did more last year but I don't think we used any of those in the end. The majority of the tapes needed baking at Stebbing Studios first before being transferred to Pro Tools.

The 8-track transfers were also done at Roundhead by Neil B and me. Neil sometimes recorded with the vari-speed on so I often had to guess what the original speed would have been.
The stereo cassettes, 4-track cassettes, DATs and Hi8 Digital multitrack tapes were transferred by me at RNZ.

Other 1/4" tapes were transferred at various times in various places and a few tapes from various sources were transferred by Capitol Records /Universal in the US in 2005/2016.

Tape storage... there's a whole 'nother story.

    All times London, UK.
