Neil talked about this exact subject during his acoustic set at Tower Records in Seattle on July 9th, 2002. Neil thanked everyone who'd bought the new CD, and someone in the audience shouted something about them downloading it instead. Neil laughed and said "well, that's ok....as long as you buy one EVENTUALLY." Then he said that, "actually, you could alternate: buy one, then burn one, then buy one, etc." Then he laughed and said "Yeah, that's fine....I've made enough money!" So there you...

Wow Paul H, you took that WAY too seriously. I can see it now: I'll start my own Neil Finn pirating company, and when I get sued in court my defense will be, "But Neil SAID I could!" Yikes, chill out. The entire POINT of that post was to illustrate Neil's liberal stance on the subject in general, not to condone, or in ANY way imply that Neil condones illegal copying of music. Neil was just being Neil.......chatting comfortably with the hundred or so of us fans that turned up for the free...

hi mishima, i'd like to get it captured as well and these would be the options i can think of : 1 - tv out in computer going to television set. video attached to television. press record on tape ! 2 - dodgy stream grabbing program on computer. success is dependant on format of stream and how tricky things have been made. for each of the above - gotta have fast cable internet connection to have a chance of getting both audio and streaming video. 3 - highlights on the website. probably easier...

From what I hear from Peter, not every fan club member is into the internet, has decent access, or is interested in the forum. I think there are more like 13,000 Frenz of the Enz members, but being active here is not a must. Also, don't forget that I have it set up so that ANYBODY can read the forum but you have to sign up to post. So maybe we have 1500 members and 13,000 readers.

Never been injured watching a gig, been injured playing one though. LOL!! I was about 14, about the 2nd last show of our set, it was going off, got to an instrumental part of the song we were playing, i think it was 'total affair' that we were playing, or was it 'kings yact' ?? Can't remember, both suck anyway, thought they were good at the time though. LOL!!! Anyway back to the story.. I was going off with my bassplayer, and he did a jumpy spinny thing and cracked me in the side of the head...

Not so much an injury but a near death experience. V2001, Powderfinger had just finished and they were running out of time before Neil Finn was meant to be on, so my friend & I thought we'd be fine staying where we were (about 2/3 rows of people back from the barriers, roughly in the middle of the crowd) when on came some band whose name began with I. I think. I would say who but I'm not sure of the name (choice of 2 could be huge error if I get the wrong one) And the moshing started. Oh...

Wow - thank you for your comments, much appreciated They are all old songs, written from when I started out in 1998 until about 2000. Apart from "Across The Ocean", which I re-recorded recently, they were all done on a 4-track with an acoustic (cheap 2nd hand one on "Forgotten Day" & "As It Calls" and then a Yamaha electro on "She's Still There"). I might have done some things on a cheap keyboard too. They were all recorded completely dry and then I put the songs on the computer and...

Honest and for true, I tried very hard to be completely unbiased when I saw it and I cant see what all the fuss is about. I went with someone who is not into Judd/Enz at all, so nothing invested there. He couldnt understand the negative comments either. The lyrics are simple without being condescending and are understandable for kids.

I'll have to keep my eye out for that video/audio recording. I don't think this is entirely legal, but what I might do is record one of the tracks as MP3 and upload it onto the website I'm developing, if anyone is interested. Droopy

The Enz played Ballarat a few times, but the Hester show was quite an interesting one. It was certainly bad timing for Molly Meldrum as the Frenz of the Enz club hired a bus to take members to this first show. The thing that always amazed me was simply it was a good show, not a brilliant show, but a good show, and from memory THREE quite solid encores tended to show that the crowd wanted more. I played a tape of that gig recently and it sounds like a typical Enz show from the time. Quite a...

Great show last night. Arrived late and only caught the last two minutes of the Rhett Miller set. The band was a little less polished than last summer in DC - not surprising, given that (1) Lisa Germano was absent due to friend's illness, (2) first show on the tour, (3) preponderance of live "rarities" in the set. Steinberg needed to turn down the amp on his bass. About five songs in Neil asked who had been at the show last summer, and then who hadn't - sounded like about 60% of audience was...

What a night! Thanks for those who've posted the set list and reviews. I'm going again tonight and I assure you that I will stand much sooner than last night's crowd did. I think I like Bowery Ballroom and Irving PLaza better as venues. Even though Town Hall is gorgeous and I think Neil liked it, he had never played there before, the vibe is better when people are on their feet. The formality of the room also I think curbed the amount of banter between the songs. There were some longish...

Yes, it was a great show. I know what you mean, Mari, about the vibe in the venue, but I also wondered if some of that formality and hesitation at the start of the set was just because it's early on in the tour, maybe it takes him longer to get his groove. Or maybe he was still recovering from our lovely winter air. Personally, I thought it was so wonderful to see him in that venue. I loved having a seat, being able to relax and just listen and watch, without being jostled and having to hold...

If you leave NYC at 6:30 by car you get stuck in bridge or tunnel traffic- Manhattan is an island. It was raining in NYC on Friday afternoon, which makes traffic worse. The tour bus probably got to Philly earlier in the day so as to set up the equipment and take everyone and everything but whatever Neil absolutely needed for his Conan appearance. Amtrak Train is the best way to get from NY to Philly. The train probably originated in Penn station, and I'm pretty sure a limo took them from NBC...
