The Ledge - The Fleetwood Mac Forum

Hi everyone, new here. I'm a member of that forum (not a mod), so wondering if I might be able to help with something? PM me if you want.

Things there are kinda sensitive right now, which is understandable. Some are interested in Neil Finn but feel confused about his role atm. The forum has sections for the FM era before Nicks and Buckingham joined, a section for the 'Rumours' lineup, and another for the 'post-Rumours' era when Lindsey wasn't with the group for awhile and they got Rick Vito and Billy Burnette to replace him.

There are also some sections for individual group members. But at this time there's really no specific place for Neil Finn and Mike Campbell. Perhaps if they stick around for a time they will eventually be given their own section, but I saw one of the mods say there could be technical issues with doing that. I guess we just have to wait and see.

(I'm obviously a fan of Fleetwood Mac - I saw them live in 2004 and 2015. But I've probably been listening to Neil Finn for longer and think he's one of the best songwriters of all time from Australasia/NZ.)

I've checked out The Ledge fan forum and tried to join but the registration process doesn't work.  Please let us know when/if the moderator gets the system working again.

Okay - I will see if can get an answer on that from one of the moderators, will get back to you on it soon hopefully.

(I think an issue is they don't have a very powerful server, have probably been inundated lately, and they had some problems with spammers. I can see someone was able to register about two weeks ago, but looks like their account was banned... I'll let you know when I get reply on the matter.)

@Romer yes, and from Wiki info about the album: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penguin_(album)

"The penguin is the band mascot favoured by John McVie. His fascination with the birds originated from when he lived near London Zoo during the early days of his marriage to Christine McVie. He was a member of the Zoological Society and would spend hours at the zoo studying and watching the penguins..."

Welcome Southern Cross.  I can totally understand the confusion for those longtime fans. I think it is sad the way it happened and so suddenly ((it would seem to fans although the negotiation was going on for a while going based on the way they got the tickets/promo out so quickly)) . Then to have the replacements ushered in so quickly after the news (again not being able to see what was happening behind the scenes)).. I am sure it might be a while before it all sinks in.  I am not a great fan of FM but am aware of their legend status in the US.  To me Neil accepting the new gig was a surprise but not that surprising as it is something I could imagine him doing.

Ty. This matter seems to be sorted and probably not appropriate for me to continue discussing another fan forum here on this one, so I'm moving to other threads. But yeah I've been fans of both acts for awhile. I'm nervous but have faith in Neil, so trying to stay positive. I'm just staying mainly out of the conversation until we get some more concrete information about the upcoming tour and some better 'previews'.

FM have very complex history and much as I admire Lindsey's talent, and I can understand how people who have followed the group for a lifetime are upset, he can be difficult at times - and used to get temperamental. They've kept touring together but due to some lingering personal differences, appear to have found creative collaboration difficult in recent decades - resulting in lack of new material they could perform live, and accusations of falling into a rut, just turning into another 'greatest pop hits' act live etc.

I'm glad I got to see all the Rumours five together on their last tour - I went along, knowing it would probably be the last opportunity. They still had dynamic chemistry. But a review like this one last year was very damning and I think this split could actually have been building up for some time. http://www.latimes.com/enterta...-20170717-story.html
