i'm on the hunt, i'm after these songs

ok, beside feeling terribly guilty for running my car to keep the battery charged, and me (and mostly my ultra curious dog) warm...see, i have no tape player inside my home soooo i had to resort to my car, to play these certain songs, to gather some lyrics and hopefully thru HERE find the bands and/ or song titles. MAJOR run on sentence, sorry...

i've had this tape since '88? was up late one night while still living at home and recorded these songs of 88.5 (still the best station here)---just a recording marathon, "oooh, the beginning of that sounds good, hit record" have had it ever since...anyway...

on that tape are at least three songs i never knew the titles/ band names to...i'm going to post two descriptions here...the third i just could not make out very many words to, so here goes...

i'm GUESSING it's altered images, but still, no clue...

it's a song that's in a very child like sound, with bells and such...and mr. roger's samples mixed in thruout...most of it goes "just try to be a little extra nice, just try to be extra nice for me, a (central?) orchestra will play for you and for me, just try to be a little extra nice"---another line goes "like (throwing?) a kiss instead of a bomb, wow!(in a girly squeal)

marching drum sounds here and there...i LOVE this song and this tape is about to seriously poop out. i'd love to find out who this is and buy it!!!! it so sounds like the altered images singer...

next one is very industrial sounding...flowing lyrics, heavy keyboard/ percussion sound- i'm having a harder time on the lyrics with this one...but here goes...

days, of no horizon
----------? (totally can't get that line)
don't cry, no flowers for you
don't cry, no regrets
rushing waters, forcing it down
(makes our spine thicker?) urging on the break of dawn
step back, voices screatch below
step back, no clemency

planet stricken crisis
further down into hell

don't cry, no flowers for you
don't cry, no regrets

time is terror, it's taking over
dropping hearts and restless (?) are melting into one....

or is it "don't crash"?! instead of "don't cry"

cripes---i'm calling out to all brits here (especially anselm, the 80's music junkie from the u.k. Smiler ) to help me find the owners of these songs and make my burning my 4 cylinders gas worth while, ta! Smiler
Original Post
The second is "Don't Crash" by Front 242.

Edited to add: The second line is "claustrophobia, conditioned air."

The first is a bit regionally obscure for me.

And the money you spend on a cheap tape recorder for the house, will save you much more on running your car to listen to cassettes.

Paul.
thank you paul for that second song Big Grin

i don't use my car as a cassette player on a regular basis (unless i'm driving, of course). i did last night just for the sake of those songs. and buying a cassette player is generally the most sensible option but if money is scarce, buying stuff (besides food) goes down on the list of priorities.

BUMP!

believe it or not, i'm currently, STILL, trying to hunt down what i call "the mr. rogers song"--- a google lyrics search brought me back to this thread, lol.... anyone else got any ideas on what the song might be? thanks!!

playing the tape now ...it's still alive!!

Hmmm, curious.

Not that it helps much, but I’m quite confident that it isn’t Altered Images / Clare Grogan. What’s really intriguing, though, is that I can’t find a match with the lyrics anywhere on Google. Usually, no matter how obscure the song, you can find some match out there, which makes me think this record is VERY obscure.

I shall call upon the services of some 80's aficionados of mine.

Nearly 2 more years on and still stumped! This is getting ridiculous! Lol!

Reason I bring it up again was it just played on my iPod (no more cassette!), still love it, googled some lyrics and only see my hunt for it. Wild! I thought with more time it would get out there, but nope! Ah well~ the search continues even more! :-)
