Elliot Finn on drums

Love the snap on the NZ Herald (Tim thought it might only be the Auckland edition). It's of Dad Tim and young Elliot on drums at Vauxhall School fair (Devonport)....I'm sure someone can find a link on line if NZ Herald has it up.
Go Elliot!

Dad's little drummer girl

Her dad is one of New Zealand's most successful recording artists, but Elliot Finn, 6, is following another musical superstar.

Mum Marie Finn said Elliot - who was yesterday accompanying her father Tim at the Vauxhall School fair in Devonport - had been in love with Ringo Starr since she saw the Beatles drummer in the movie Help! Since then she had wanted to copy Ringo's hair, hats and drumming style.

But the young drummer, who rehearses Beatles songs with her father and older brother Harper in the family's music room, is not strictly loyal to Ringo. She also likes Meg White, the female drummer of rock duo the White Stripes.

Marie said Elliot had proved a dependable band member yesterday, staying calm and focused while her Dad sang on stage. She had been accompanying her father at home since he bought her the drum kit at Christmas. It was too early to say whether her daughter or 11-year-old Harper, a talented singer, would follow their father Tim, Uncle Neil and cousin Liam into the music business.

"We don't want it to be too formal for her, it's just fun for her at the moment."

Hm, Tim's pretty picky about his rhythm tracks!

I guess he has to cut a little slack in this case though. Wink

So in the extended Finn family, we now have several drummers: Tim, Liam, Elroy, Neil (if you count You Can Touch), and now Elliot. I hope that, when they eventually perform together on stage -- as surely they must -- with Harper and Sharon and Marie (and, what the heck, with Dick too), this Finnapalooza Superband will use several drummers at once, in the manner of the Gary Glitter Band or Adam and the Ants. Besides, I've always longed for Finn renditions of Do You Want To Be In My Gang and Ant Music.

YES I DO!

Interesting point there, Watney. Perhaps all these drummers could be assembled at once, drag a couple logs in and let them have at it on "Private Universe"!

If this were to happen, I would want to hear "Wipeout." Go with the old classic. Big Grin (Besides, I don't think any of them have the technical ability to pull off "Sing, Sing, Sing" that other drumming favorite of mine.)
