Good list, Bono . I think you pretty much covered it. Most of those songs are probably the ones you'd use to get someone into the artists. Donovan - Your list wasn't really all that much different to Bono 's (the one you ripped shreds into) - you just selected different bands with basically the same style... although your selection must be way superior! The Mavis's - cry george (probably not "party music", but classic stuff) Paul Kelly (take your pick!) Savage Garden (again, take your pick.

(Decloaking) Hi forum Frenz, just wanted to point out a potential "waiting on the wrong corner" situation regarding Starbucks and London Drugs locations. Here's some info for locals and out of towners that I hope helps and doesn't confuse. (Attn Treegrrl) I'm not sure if there is a Starbucks next to London Drugs, but what I do know is that London drugs is at Granville and Georgia st which is another blk north of Robson st. The Commodore is at 868 Granville St between Smithe st and Robson St.

Weird topic, but here goes. Mark Hart went back to his old group Supertramp after the breakup of CH and then made a solo album called Nada Sonata. On a side note, Tim wrote a song especially for Mark's album for him. Nick Seymour joined Deadstar and left after about five minutes and did some work on an Andy White album a few years ago. I don't think hes recorded or played much since then. Paul Hester co-owned and later sold a cafe in Australia, had a band called Largest Living Things (they...

I read in an interview with Nick Seymour that Tim was supposed to be a full member, like Mark Hart became some time later. Nick also said that he would have been more comfortable if Tim had been a one-off guest for the Woodface album (and tour). At some point Neil and Tim were doing almost everything while recording Woodface, at some point replacing Paul Hester by a different drummer, Ricky Fataar. Hi Guy. I remember reading what sounds like the same article. I must admit that I've really gone off Nick as a person. Nick seemed to like Tim's music just fine when Weather With You and Woodface Became CH's first single and album to make it big in the UK. Talk about ungrateful and being a...

Well it's pretty easy for most people to be truthful and still be tactful. Sadly thats not an artform that Nick has mastered. I'll have to disagree that CH was even partly Nicks band. Neil was always in total control. He hired Nick, fired Nick for a time, and only when Neil felt ready did he invite Nick back. When Tim joined, Nick and Paul didn't get a say in it, they were just told by Neil. CH breaking up wasn't a band decision, Neil just decided that was it and told the others. Paul, Tim...

Don't you think that might not sit well with Nick? I agree with you in theory, but the truth of the matter is that it was Nick's band (as well as Paul's and Neil's). Neil was the unquestioned leader, but both Nick and Paul brought special things to the group besides technical prowess. Nick isn't the best bass player ever, but CH without Nick is definitely missing something -- especially on stage. The chemistry between the original three (both good and not-so-good) was a major part of CH.

I read online recently about a dream concert of mine that actually happened in New Zealand: Goldenhorse opening for Bic Runga. I'd also love to see Stellar* open for Bic, or for them to play alternating sets or something. Seeing Tim Finn play before or after anybody wouldn't just be a dream, it'd be more like a fantasy. For an opening act... oh, I don't know, how about Mark Seymour? *sigh*

Weird as I was just responding to Mo/Maureen on the List that out of Nick and Paul it was Nick who really wanted the band to go on, Paul had long long left, and really Nick was pissed off. It's his right, especially at the time. Saying all that it's actually been quite awhile since the split and you would expect that most people would move on. Wuntie Pretty sure Neil never hinted at going solo, that was just natural. You have to remember that demo's had been done for some songs (with Peter Jones) as possible tracks for the next Crowded House album. The plan was release Recurring Dream and tour and record the new CD off the back of that no talk of any solo stuff etc. It all happened when we were in London VERY quickly, just a decision to finish and yep Neil lit the match! Just my two cents on this, from the angle of someone who deals with the press from a PR side: I was more off-put by the headline than the actual story. In the story, Nick actually defends his position a little bit by saying the following before digging into Neil: "Any band that is close will be prone to the internal politics and egos of its players, and we would all somehow manipulate that ," Seymour said. That said, in my experience, the editors of the papers' specific sections write the...

They're both pop bands in my opinion, a form of group which seems to have almost died out in the advent of vocal groups and "trendy" guitar bands. Fleetwood Mac's great current album was simply a Lindsey Buckingham (guitarist in the band for nearly 30 years) solo album which never happened because Fleetwood was the drummer chosen by Buckingham. A bit like if Neil wanted Paul to be his drummer on his next solo album, not such a strange idea as they have both enjoyed working with each other...

Hi Secret God, I agree with what Seven Worlds wrote. I find it hard to believe that Neil arranged the songs totally by himself. There is a distinction here between writing a song, and arranging it. It's in Something So Strong that Mitchel Froom wrote the solo for Don't Dream It's Over. This is a solo though, so quite rightly he isn't credited, as Neil Finn wrote the song. Let's take it a step further, should Duke Ellington have credited Johnny Hodges (possibly the most famous of all of...
